CLOSET ORGANIZING IN 5 SIMPLE STEPS

Closet organizing can make or break your day. Imagine This.

You’re getting ready for work and you can’t find your yellow blouse anywhere. It’s the only blouse you own that matches the floral dress pants you need to wear. Simply because they are the only pants that are clean right now and fit without squeezing your waist.

You push and shove the hanger back and forth like a tug of war game versus your clothing. No luck. You only have 15 minutes left to get dressed and out the door or the kids will be late to school.

You run over to the dresser, throw open the drawers.

You start digging through it like a claw machine gone haywire.

It’s not there either.

Maybe it’s in the clean cloths pile on the couch … or in the dryer … or in the dirty wash pile downstairs that looks like the grand opening of a  clothing landfill.

Sigh.

If only you could have Marie Kondo, the Cleaning Coach, or the Home Edit do an extreme closet organizing makeover.

Unfortunately you don’t know Cinderella’s Fairy Godmother or Aladdin’s Genie. So instant teleporting is out of the question.

Double Sigh.

Fortunately however, this morning chaos scenario can be a thing of the past.

Here are simple closet organizing ideas that will spark joy.

Closet Organizing Ideas

There are two main kinds of organizing preferences:

Hidden organization and Visual organization

Keep this in mind as you organize your closet or any other areas.

Some people don’t want to see their stuff.

Marie Kondo is known for hidden storage with muted minimalism organization.

Some people want to show off their stuff.

Home Edit is known for visual displays with vibrant color coordinated organization.

Which ever style you choose, try this quick & easy guide to closet organization.

Step by Step Closet Organization Guide

1. EMPTY

Take everything out and clean the shelves while they’re completely empty.

2. DECLUTTER

Group like items together by type and keep only what you like and will use

3. HANG

Hang as much as possible, you’ll thank me later

It’s so much faster to hang than fold.

Use matching plastic hangers.

They are affordable and

look so much nicer than mismatched colors and styles.

4. FOLD

If you do fold don’t pile items on top of one another.

Stand items up to make choosing easier.

Use bins and labels on open shelves to keep things tidy.

5. ARRANGE

Put everything back in order from light to dark or rainbow order.
