If you’re looking for the Best Way to Organize Gift Cards, I’ve got you covered.

I’ll share three steps to organize your gift cards like a pro.

Who doesn’t love getting gift cards on birthdays and holidays?

It’s the perfect gift … if you remember you have it, or where you last put it!

I know the feeling.

Life gets busy and we don’t always have time to use them right away.

Why use a Gift Card organizer

Have you ever tried to use all of your gift cards at once?

Many times I’ve had the idea of grabbing all the gift cards with close locations.

The plan was to use them all in one gigantic shopping spree.

It has not worked out for me yet.

By the end of the day, I don’t even feel like putting away what I bought.

The gift cards are randomly scattered in my purse, along with the receipts.

It’s an exhausting day. I don’t recommend it.

How to Organize Gift Cards

I've tried all type of methods to organize gift cards over the years.

From trial and error, I’ve learned the best way to organize gift cards.

1. ORGANIZER

Buying the best organizer for gift cards is important.

Here are some features to look for in a gift card organizer.

  • Portable: Small enough to carry with you

  • Wide: Allow for thickness of the gift cards compared to thinner cardboard

  • 3 Rings: Easily move sheets around

  • Zippered: Prevent cards from falling out when carrying them around the mall

2. CATEGORY

When it comes to gift card organization, it’s helpful to sort them by category.

Here are some gift card categories you might want to use.

  • Food: Restaurants, Fast Food Chains, and Grocery Stores

  • Entertainment: Movie Theaters, Arcades, and Sports

  • Beauty: Spas, Salons, and Beauty Stores

  • Retail: Department Stores, Clothing Stores, and Specialty Shops

3. AMOUNT

It’s annoying when you find an old gift card and don’t know how much is on it.

There are a few ways to check gift card balance (s).

  • Call the number listed on the back

  • Visit the website listed on the back

  • Go in person.

But it’s easier to keep track of the amount right from the start.

  • Cut off the original amount from the packaging it came on.

  • Write the amount directly on the card with a sharpie marker.

  • Keep the most recent receipt. Usually the remaining balance is located somewhere towards the bottom.
